Back Flushing Instruction

Back flushing is the only maintenance item that needs to be done by the customer to our soda machines.  It takes only a few minutes and should be done once every 6 months.  Customers who subscribe to our newsletter get a reminder every 6 months that it is time to be done.  This maintenance process flushes water from the water chamber out through where the CO2 cylinder connects to your machine.  It keeps the machine carbonating at optimal levels and keeps the machine from exerting undue pressure and stress on the springs, seals, grommets, gaskets, and o-rings that help your machine to work properly.

Steps to back flushing The Soft Drink Machine

Fill the machine with refrigerated cold water just like you would if you were going to make a drink.

Carbonate the water just like you were going to make a drink.

Now double carbonate the water by pressing down the carbonating button just like you did in step 2.

At this point you have built up a lot of excess pressure in the water chamber.  It is very important that the pressure remain in the water chamber.  Do not press the water release lever down in any way causing the excess pressure to escape.

Remove the top of your machine from its base just like you would when you pull the CO2 cylinder out of your machine.

Put the base standing upright in a sink.

Hold the top of your machine, with the CO2 cylinder attached, over the sink and completely remove the cylinder by unscrewing it from the top of the machine.  As you do so water will start to dribble out from where the cylinder screws onto the machine.

The top of the machine needs to remain in the upright position while the water slowly dribbles out.  So you don’t have to stand there holding it over the sink, with the CO2 cylinder removed, place the top of your machine onto its base in the sink.

Once the water stops draining, half of the water will remain in the water chamber.  Drain it out into the sink by pressing the water release lever.

You are now done back flushing.  Put your machine back together and you will be ready to make a drink when you want one.
